In yoga and meditation, we so often talk about letting go. Releasing. Creating space. That less is more. And while we often talk about all of this in relation to emotions and thoughts and habits, this tangible experience of “letting go of needing my stuff” was so transformational that it gave me new insight into all the baggage we hold onto.Read More

"Every moment is born from the death of another...
You suffer because you hold on to each moment, and do not experience the death of the moment...
The universe isn't static...
You have to keep dying to the past...

you will experience the joy in the impermanence too!!"
Spring’s rigorous and spirited energy has certainly begun its dance. We are talking about the ‘major’ uplifting energy needed to crack a seed and bloom it into a budding plant. It is time for growth and expansion. Change is happening right now, in a big way.
It would be an amazing experiment to witness the changes Spring's energy creates every day. For instance, if you were to scoop up some soil from the ground today, and then each day until say May 21, it would be remarkable to observe the it metamorphoses from contracted, dense, dry, and brittle earth into moist, malleable, fragrant dirt; pulsating with insects and juicy vegetation of all kinds.Read More
Spring is ruled by the organs of liver and gallbladder, our main organs for cleansing and processing toxins. It's exhausting and joy robbing to be somewhere other than where we actually are. It's also depleting to try to do it all; it lowers the quality of everything we are squeezing in.Read More
Change, self-initiated or not, moves us through a transition zone which creates a sense of groundlessness. The scary in-between state of letting to go of what we’ve always known and/or done to allow for something new (a new habit, pattern, way of thinking or acting) to emerge. It’s like being in flight between trapeze bars. It takes skill, dedication, and courage to relax and trust into this groundless state.Read More

Vata is the "Air" element characterized by wind, movement, coolness, and dryness. In autumn and early winter Vata is the dominant energy both around and within us. It is also dominant through times of change and transition, as we age, and in various other 'ungrounding' conditions.Read More
Creating space is different from “letting things go.” I once believed I needed to let go of certain things, because I thought the stuff I was holding on to must be “bad” parts of me. That perspective reinforced the idea that I had to get rid of something or I wouldn’t be okay. It felt like a little war was going on inside me.Read More
