Fitness for Yogis: 9-Minute Full Core Flow to reconnect to Center

This 9-minute workout will focus on the core, low back, and waist with emphasis on balancing. You’re welcome to incorporate some light weights (or water bottles) too though it is optional.

In the fullness of summer, it’s easy to feel pulled outward—into long days, full calendars, and the fiery energy of doing. But the expansion of the season can quickly give way to the sense that we’ve lost our center.

Sometimes our nervous system needs a pause. And sometimes, when we feel disconnected from ourselves, it can feel supportive to literally get reacquainted with our physical center.

That is, our core. With a bonafide workout.

Many folks ask if I “work out” in addition to practicing yoga. The answer is YES! And the short of the long is that for 12 years in the 80s and 90s, I was a certified fitness instructor.

These days, in my online studio membership, occasionally I’ll share fitness videos designed specifically for yoga and somatic practitioners—something that is physical in a style that honors our tendency to be more mindful in our movement.

I’d love to share one with you here. This 9-minute workout will focus on the core, low back, and waist with emphasis on balancing. You’re welcome to incorporate some light weights (or water bottles) too though it is optional.

This is a quick one you can do in your hotel room before meeting the group for brunch, in between meetings, or as soon as you roll out of bed.

Seeking something more restorative?
