How Bedtime Yoga Supports the Nervous System — As Featured in REAL SIMPLE
I’m honored to have been featured in REAL SIMPLE, sharing insights on how we can support the nervous system and soften patterns of holding in the body.
The article explores how subtle, mindful practices can help shift us out of chronic activation and into steadiness — something many of us are craving right now.
For over three decades, my work has centered on this: helping the body remember how to soften.
Why Nervous System Regulation Matters
Many of us move through our days in a low-grade state of urgency. The jaw tightens. The breath stays high in the chest. The shoulders brace without us even noticing.
Over time, that bracing becomes familiar.
Practices that support nervous system regulation — including restorative yoga, deep listening, breath awareness, and mindful strengthening — allow us to transition from constant activation into grounded presence.
When the nervous system feels supported, clarity returns. Energy becomes sustainable. Strength becomes responsive instead of rigid.
That’s the work I’ve devoted my life to teaching.
What Real Simple Highlighted
In the feature, I shared how small shifts — like slowing the breath, softening the belly, or pausing before reacting — can begin to unwind tension patterns stored in the body.
True resilience doesn’t come from pushing harder.
It comes from listening.
