Letting Our Big Feelings Flow (Without Getting Stuck in Them)
Autumn is a season of grief, and many of my students are sharing that they are having a lot of big feelings right now. It’s not uncommon in the autumn and it’s not surprising given what we’re scrolling in our newsfeeds.
Personally, I’m also feeling some acute grief this week as a treasured family member recently transitioned.
We’re often taught that we should “get over” our feelings, especially the ones that are stronger. We tend to label emotions like anger, sadness, and grief as “negative”—which causes more stress.
If we don’t allow our feelings to move and flow, they build up and create dis-ease—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This leads to more stress and tension in our nervous system and body. We must keep our emotional channels open, allowing energy to flow freely through us.
It’s not that our emotions will evaporate. It’s just that we can flow with them and between them with fluidity. From a Tantric point of view, emotions are not good or bad, or right or wrong; they are simply energy in motion—E-motion.
Our task is not to suppress them or build towering stories around them, but to allow them to flow through us with compassion and intention.
When we allow our emotions to flow, we remain alive and responsive to life.
I recently shared a talk on grief and how we can create space to be with and feel our feelings… without getting stuck in them.
Tune in while you’re still in bed this morning, with your morning tea, or on the mat. The 20-minute discussion leads into a 10-minute meditation. We’ll create a container that allows us to drop into a soft belly meditation that will also help to activate the vagus nerve and promote more softness through our whole system.

Autumn Attunement
Vagus Nerve Reset Through the Chakras
Mark the turning of the seasons with a full-body, full-spectrum reset.
This autumn, join me for a deeply restorative and enlivening journey through the chakra system, exploring its connection to the vagus nerve—the body’s main pathway for rest, repair, and resilience.
Each week we’ll focus on a different chakra, combining sound mantra, intentional movement, breath awareness, somatic exercises, and deep relaxation to harmonize energy flow and support your nervous system.
You’ll also experience gentle vagus nerve tuning practices designed to cultivate a sense of safety, groundedness, and emotional balance. Alongside the experiential work, we’ll explore how each chakra relates to specific nerve plexuses and endocrine glands, and how the vagus nerve interacts with the chakra system to influence both physical vitality and emotional well-being.
